5.5 Editing the Scripts of a Macro

You can click the script button in the VME to view the script for current macro at current status.

All information of an Autowork macro is saved in a script file (filename.awm). This is a plain text file if the macro is not encrypted. If it's encrypted by a password (you can set or clear the password in macro properties page), you cannot read the awm file in a plain text editor directly.

You can click the Read Source button in the VME to read script for the macro in VME in current status. This is not the original script file of the macro, but a temporarily created plain text script file to reflect current status of the macro. You can read this temporary script file in plain text even if the macro is an encrypted macro. This temporarily script file will be removed after you have exit VME.

This command is designed just for you to have a chance to read the script file of the macro in current status. You cannot edit the temporary script file and save it and reload to VME. Since VME is already a convenient visual editor, there is no need for you to edit script file directly. Any way, if you really like to edit a macro by editing its script file, you can exit VME and edit the original script file directly. Then when you reload the macro into the VME, all your changes will be applied.
