Autowork Basics

Introduction

Autowork is a system level instruction engine, or you can call it an extended macro tool. Autowork can help you perform streams of user actions and system operations (packed as an Autowork macro) automatically and in a controllable way. With the help of Anasoft Scheduler, you can also schedule the running of Autowork macro at highly customizable schedules.

Below are some major features of Anasoft Autowork:

1) Its basic parts are a delicate macro recorder and player. You can record all user actions (mouse actions and keyboard actions with their time stamps) and save the actions in an Autowork macro. Mouse wheel action can also be recorded if your system is a Windows 2000+ system. You can replay the macro directly or after some modification and enhancement in VME.

2) VME is an integrated visual macro editor, by which you can edit properties, and instructions of a macro. You can edit each instruction in a visual UI in VME. Multi-selection editing, unlimited undo/redo are supported in VME.

3) The following types of instructions are supported in current edition of Autowork:

     Keyboard and Text

          * Keyboard Actions: Key stroke, pressing or releasing a key

          * Text Input

     Mouse Actions

          * Mouse Actions: mouse move, press/release/click/double click of left/middle/right buttons, mouse wheel rotation

     System Operation Instructions

          * Executing Command line commands, such as running program, opening file or folder, visiting web resources etc.

          * Sleep

     Control Instructions

          * Flexible Repeat Control: Repeat Start / Repeat End pairs at any place in your instruction stream.

4) You have flexible controls over macro related operations. When recording a macro, you can pause and continue recording at any time, when running a macro, you can pause and continue running at any time. You can conveniently add or remove comments to one or a group of instructions in VME, besides running a macro. You can also assign break point to some instruction and debug a macro.

5) Autowork macro can be password protected.

6) You can run a macro directly within Windows Explorer by applying the "Run" command in the context menu.

7) You can schedule the running of macro by Anasoft Scheduler. Besides visual and strong scheduling capabilities, Scheduler also provides more user functions like running a program, opening a file or web page, system management functions (log off/restart/shut down computer) and notice reminder. It seamlessly works together with Autowork to make Helena a great automation tool.
